On December 12, 13 and 14 the "International Nature photography festival 2008" organized by BVNF - the 'Union for responsible nature photography' -was held in the community center "Ter Dilft" at Bornem, south of Antwerp. The festival started on Friday 12th in the evening with the announcement of the winners of the big ARGUS photo competition. This evening BVNF was the host for ARGUS, a Belgium foundation for the advancement of nature conservation and environmental awareness. Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th were filled with presentations, open to everybody. Het festival turned out to be a great success with lots of visitors, beautiful presentations and an enthousiastic audience.

Many thanks to everybody who has contributed to this beautiful festival. To all presenters, all workers and co-workers, and to all visitors, for their great support and their enthousiasm.

Besides the presentations in the theatre (450 seats) three special photo exhibitions could be visited in the corridors and foyers, already open during the week before the festival. One was a new exhibition of the best 120 pictures from members of BVNF taken during the last three years. Then there was the exhibition of the ARGUS photo competition 2008. The third one was a special exhibition about 'Biodiversity in the Province of Antwerpen – Countdown 2010’.

There was an interesting photo information fair during the whole weekend. The fair and the exhibitions were freely admissible.

The visitors could choose from various options to visit the festival: a combination ticket for both days to participate in all activities, or day tickets and half-day tickets as well. See practicalities.

Each visitor could vote for the Prize of the Public for the photos in the BVNF exhibition. The winner was announced on Sunday afternoon during the last presentation. In all 839 votes were counted, see de special page for the results, zie (expositie).
